California led ALL states in the 2022 NFL Draft with 5 first-round picks and 22 total selections. Kayvon Thibodeaux (Oaks Christian, Westlake Village) was the first CA pick at #5 overall to the Giants, followed by Drake London (USC/Moorpark HS, #8), Chris Olave (Ohio State/Mission Hills, #11), Trent McDuffie (Washington/St. John Bosco, #21), and Devin Lloyd (Utah/Otay Ranch, #27).
McDuffie went on to win a Super Bowl with the Chiefs as a shutdown corner. Later-round steals included Romeo Doubs (Round 4 to Green Bay) and Khalil Shakir (Round 5 to Buffalo), both of whom became reliable starters.
