π First Round AAPI Picks
Record-Setting AAPI Draft Class in 2024
The 2024 NFL Draft set a record with 13 Pasifika athletes drafted β the most Polynesian players ever selected in a single draft. Three went in the first round: Taliese Fuaga (OT, Oregon State, #14), Laiatu Latu (EDGE, UCLA, #15), and Troy Fautanu (OT, Washington, #20). Latu, of Tongan heritage, won the 2023 Polynesian College Football Player of the Year award.
The Samoan representation was particularly strong with 9 of the 13 selections, including Kingsley Suamataia β cousin of Penei Sewell, Noah Sewell, and Puka Nacua. Utah alone produced three AAPI picks (Jonah Elliss, Sione Vaki, and Sataoa Laumea), while Giovanni Manu became the first player ever drafted from UBC.
